Congratulatory Message
from H.E. Joon-gyu Lee
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

I am honoured to be one of the Vice-Patrons of the 2008 Korean Film Festival. This is the third such festival organised by the Korean Cinerama Trust, and follows highly successful showings in 2004 and 2006.

This year’s festival will be held in Auckland and Wellington from the 12th to 15th of December, and will include six outstanding Korean films.

It is particularly appropriate that the Korean Film Festival is being held this year, as just a few months ago the Korea / New Zealand Film Co-production Agreement was signed by our two governments. I hope that the news of this agreement will inspire in New Zealanders an interest in Korean film, and that those who attend the 2008 Korean Film Festival will gain a greater understanding of Korea’s culture as expressed through this medium.

I am confident that the members of the Korean Cinerama Trust have selected films which not only showcase the talents of Korea’s film-makers, but will also serve to enchant, thrill and excite you.
